Growing the next generation of dispute resolution leaders: 2023 AMINZ Scholarships

We’re on year three of the popular AMINZ Scholarships; an initiative designed to encourage young professionals to engage with dispute resolution, provide leadership development opportunities, and encourage diversity amongst the sector.

Our 2022 scholars, Diana Qiu (Determinative Scholar) and Madison Dobie (Consensual Scholar), have held their respective scholarships for the past 12 months. It’s been a privilege getting to know Diana and Madison and witnessing their professional growth over the past year. Both scholars have enjoyed mentorship and observation opportunities with the Institute’s senior members.

The learning goes both ways – with our scholars reporting back to the AMINZ Council on opportunities and feedback on how we can further enhance our diversity and inclusivity within both the Institute and the wider dispute resolution sector. Our scholars’ insights and involvement with the Institute plays a pivotal role in our own ongoing learning and diversity journey.

With Diana and Madison’s scholarship year coming to a close, we’re now in the thick of our search for the 2023 Scholars. Running in the same way as previous years, our 2023 scholars will be selected by the AMINZ Diversity Committee – one Determinative Scholar (focused on arbitration), and one Consensual Scholar (focused on mediation).

The application process is simple. Candidates submit a 500-word statement on why they seek the scholarship alongside their CV.

Applications for the 2022 Scholarships close 5pm 17 March. The recipients will be announced 1 April. If you are a suitable candidate, we strongly encourage you to submit your application.

You do not need to be a current AMINZ member to be eligible.
