  • Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand Wellington New Zealand (map)

Join us for an informative Farm Debt Mediation Webinar, designed to facilitate collaboration and understanding within the farming industry. This event brings together mediators and industry professionals to address the unique challenges encountered by New Zealand's farmers.

We look forward to welcoming Maria Shanks, Rural Support Trust and Sarah Crofoot, Beef + Lamb New Zealand

Maria is the General Manager at the Rural Support Trust.  The Rural Support Trust provides support to farmers experiencing challenges.  This may be personal, business or financial.  The Trust is made up of rural people with a wide range of experience and knowledge.  Facilitators will travel where they are needed to provide one-on-one support to farmers and growers in a place that suits them.  Their services are free and confidential.  Maria will talk about the Rural Support Trust and its role in supporting rural communities during tough times and adverse events.

Sarah is the Environment Integration Lead at B+LNZ and farms with her family at Castlepoint Station in the Wairarapa.  Sarah’s role at B+LNZ is helping to build tools and resources to support farmers through changing environmental conditions and policy.  This has included the development of the workshops for farmers to calculate and understand their greenhouse gas numbers using the B+LNZ calculator and refreshing and updating the farm planning tools available free to farmers through B+LNZ. She is also involved in B+LNZ’s catchment community programme.  Sarah will discuss some of the big regulatory changes facing farmers including around Freshwater Farm Plans and climate change.
