IN BRIEF - with Rachael Douglas
Tēnā koutou katoa,
Last week was filled with three fantastic mornings online alongside a number of our Family practitioners for the FDR Online Conference with Resolution Institute. Despite having to adapt and fit into a Covid-friendly, online delivery method; the conference was a resounding success and a wonderful opportunity for learning, thought-provoking discussion and reflection. I’d like to thank the fantastic array of presenters who shared this knowledge and expertise, alongside all our Family practitioners who participated and contributed throughout the three days. Watch this space for further initiatives in FDR as we strengthen our partnership with Resolution Institute and work to progress the sector further.
In other news, I'm delighted to announce that young practitioners can now join the Young AMINZ group via the AMINZ website here. The group is a fantastic way for those with 10 or less years’ experience in the profession to connect with like-minded peers, build their professional networks and take part in specialised events and social gatherings. We’re delighted to be supporting the group more going forward. We know that having a strong network early on in your career can make the world of difference. Please encourage those in your network who may benefit from participating in Young AMINZ to join.
After what feels like a lifetime of being stuck behind computer screens as Covid made its way up and down the country, I am looking forward to seeing many of you in person come August. The AMINZ Awards Dinner is going to be a chance to finally share a meal (and laughs!), catch up and enjoy one another’s company in a relaxed environment. I encourage you to book your tickets here and schedule this into your social calendars!
A big thank you to those who completed the Annual Members’ Survey. We received some great feedback and your insights will assist in ensuring we put our focus in areas that will continue to benefit you and your work going forward. And finally, a reminder for Associates and Fellows. Nominations for election to the AMINZ Council are now open, closing 5pm 3 June. If you wish to put forward a nomination, please head here.
Ngā mihi,
Rachael

CHILD PARTICIPATION: The status quo and where to from here?
Here's a fantastic piece on Child Participation written by William Story at FairWay Resolution. It ties in nicely with the discussions from Dr Deb Inder at last week's Family Dispute Resolution Conference - well worth a read! HEAD HERE.
If you read something (or write something yourself!) that you think may be of interest to other AMINZ members, please send it through to us at office@aminz.org.nz
