Grant Brittain KC appointed Associate Judge of the High Court
AMINZ would like to congratulate member Grant Brittain KC who has been appointed Associate Judge of the High Court.
He will sit in Auckland, and take up his appointment on 21 November. He is an AMINZ Fellow in Mediation and Arbitration and a member of our Mediation Panel.
About Grant Brittain KC
Brittain graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 1991 with an LLB.
He took up a role as a litigation staff solicitor with Gibson Sheat in Lower Hutt where he worked in criminal defence, family law and civil litigation.
In 1995 he relocated to London and worked as a paralegal for Freshfields in London.
He returned to New Zealand the following year and took up a role as a litigation staff solicitor for Hesketh Henry in Auckland where he worked in commercial and general civil litigation.
From 2000 to 2002, Brittain held positions as an associate for Sharp Tudhope and senior solicitor at Holland Beckett in Tauranga.
Since 2002 he has been a barrister sole. He has also accepted appointments as a mediator and arbitrator, and an adjudicator under the Construction Contracts Act 2002. He graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with an LLM(Dist) in 2017.
He was appointed Queen’s (now King’s) Counsel in 2018.
