Kickstart 2023 with our first Auckland Breakfast Meeting and join us to hear from Viv Beck, Chief Executive for Heart of the City Auckland.

Over the last 3 years, Auckland’s city centre has endured it’s fair share of challenges, with the loss of international spending, people working from home, and the ongoing impact of large-scale, long-term construction. Viv will talk about this experience and Heart of the City’s work relating to recovery and transformation, highlighting the importance of relationships and issue resolution.

Viv Beck

With a diverse career spanning the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, Viv has held governance and senior corporate roles, led a medium-sized design and print agency, and also been involved with start-ups. 

She is Chief Executive of Heart of the City, the business association for Auckland’s city centre, which is charged with fostering a successful city centre economy, with a vibrant, accessible and thriving heart.  She was Acting Director of the Auckland Art Gallery for a period when she first arrived in Auckland.

Before relocating from Wellington, Viv was Director of Communications and a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.  She was Chair of the Wellington Museums Trust, which governs the largest grouping of arts and cultural visitor attractions in Wellington, and was a Director of the former economic development agency Grow Wellington.   
Viv holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Victoria University.
