About Heidi
Heidi van Eeden is a Registered Quantity Surveyor that has worked across many sectors of the industry, be it mining, civils, vertical or horizontal construction. They worked for subcontractors, main contractors and consultancy businesses in South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand for the last 26 years and understand the perspectives of most groups within the sector.
Heidi has been an associate of AMINZ for over a decade and have always had a particular interest in Dispute resolution and Construction Contract Law, and continuously seek to gain greater understanding.
Heidi is based in Auckland and is the director of Clarity Cost Management Limited, and most recognized as an expert quantum witness. They have acted as an expert witness in numerous mediations, arbitrations, the District and High Courts, the Weathertight Homes Tribunal, Canterbury Earthquake Insurance Tribunal and the Building Practitioners Board throughout various parts of New Zealand for the last 13 years.
They believe in continuous education and donned the gown four times (to date). Collaborating and sharing knowledge with others freely, deepens the understanding of perspectives between parties and is the basis of Heidi’s interaction with clients, mentees and other industry bodies.
Heidi has recently been made a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS). Heidi has been volunteering with NZIQS for a decade and has had roles on the council, board and various committees. Their passion is raising awareness and the quality of expert witnessing in New Zealand and mentors others to increase the number of experts to assist construction disputants. They are also a member of other institutes, for example PMI, SCCP, ACICA, SCL, etc.
