AMINZ Awards Dinner: A night to remember
The long-awaited AMINZ Awards Dinner took place early August 2922...and what a night it was.
We can't wrap up the event without shining the light on those who helped make the night a resounding success. Kate Hesson did a stellar job at MC-ing the evening and Dr Simon Foote QC delivered a fantastic keynote address, 'Confessions of a Litigator in Lockdown', which was filled with a healthy dose of banter.
We'd also like to extend our thanks to Wynn Williams for generously sponsoring the evening, and Greg Simms who spoke on behalf of the firm. We couldn't have put on such an event without you.
A word from Wynn Williams
The role that AMINZ plays in developing, supporting and leading efforts to find alternative and better approaches to dispute resolution has never been more important than it is today.
It was an absolute privilege to sponsor this year’s Gala Dinner and to share in the palpable sense of camaraderie in the room. There can be no doubt that as a collective we are up to the challenges that lie ahead.
Our sincere congratulations to the 2022 Scholars, Fellows and recipients of the Big Heart Awards – your respective contributions to the continued success of alternate dispute resolution in Aotearoa is immense.
Waiho i te toipoto, kaua i te toiroa
Let us keep close together, not wide apart
Nga mihi nui,
Wynn Williams
Councillor Barry Jordan captured some fantastic images on the night.
Alongside great food, drinks, and entertainment, we also had the opportunity to recognise some outstanding individuals. Congratulations again to Diana Qiu and Madison Dobie who were recognised for their 2022 AMINZ Scholarships; and to Matthew Freeman, Baden Vertongen and Ann Skelton on gaining Fellowship.
Te Tohu Ngākau Nui: The Big Heart Awards
It was our pleasure to present the 2022 Big Heart Awards on the evening to four outstanding individuals who have given so much to the Institute and dispute resolution community.
AMINZ is incredibly lucky to have a membership base filled with passionate and dedicated individuals. The list is long with the names of those who so generously share their expertise, energy and time to ensure AMINZ’s success. The Te Tohu Ngākau Nui: The Big Heart Awards seeks to recognise this. It shines the light on and celebrates a few key individuals who always go the extra mile and, as the name suggests, truly have big hearts when it comes to their dedication and commitment to AMINZ’s success.
Congratulations again to:
Hon Paul Heath QC
Peter Whiteside QC
Nicola Hartfield
Bruce Cottrill
Thank you again to everyone who participated in making the Awards Dinner a resounding success. There’s nothing quite like in-person collegial catchups and celebration - we’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to gather under one roof agin.
Until next time…
Ngā mihi nui,
The AMINZ team
