AMINZ announces new Executive Director
The Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) - Te Mana Kaiwhakatau, Takawaenga o Aotearoa has appointed Monique Pearson as its new Executive Director.
AMINZ President, Nicole Smith, said the Council is delighted that Monique Pearson has joined the Institute, saying, “Monique is well known in the professional services community. It is Monique’s leadership experience within education, technology and professional services firms and her depth of knowledge of membership organisations, including her role as Executive Director at the New Zealand Bar Association, that made her the right candidate. Her experience and proven track record make her a great fit for AMINZ, and the Council and I have full confidence Monique has the right skills and attitude to lead the Institute.”
Monique said she was excited to be leading AMINZ, saying, “I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead this important organisation. My primary goals are to ensure that we continue to provide value to our members and the wider community, enhancing their roles as dispute resolvers, and to build on our position as the leading voice on dispute resolution in Aotearoa New Zealand.”
Monique’s strong business development experience in global firms such as EY and PwC, is expected to bring increased visibility and membership growth to AMINZ. Starting her role, Monique plans to engage closely with AMINZ members and stakeholders, setting a strong foundation for achieving our strategic goals. She aims to strengthen our connections with similar organisations both here and abroad, and is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, drawing on her past involvement with initiatives like Global Women and Amotai.
Nicole expressed her excitement about Monique's appointment, noting her extensive experience, insight across multiple sectors, and innovative strategies for growth. “The Council fully supports Monique's vision for leading AMINZ through a period of growth and innovation. We're looking forward to this new chapter under Monique's leadership and encourage our members and the wider dispute resolution community to join us in welcoming her and getting involved with our future initiatives,” she said.
The Council would like to thank Barry Jordan for his role in leading the Institute as Acting General Manager from October 2023 to January 2024.
